The fortified church of Santa Caterina in Teulada's honey-stone old town with Moscatel vines beyond

Alicante · Marina Alta

Teulada-Moraira

One municipality with two distinct centres: fortified Teulada among Moscatel country inland and Moraira around a natural harbour and defended bay on the coast.

Walled town and harbour

Two settlements in one municipality

Teulada stands inland among old vineyard country, with the fortress-like church of Santa Caterina at the heart of its protected historic centre. Moraira is the municipality's coastal settlement around a sheltered bay.

The shore castle and Cap d'Or watchtower explain why a natural harbour needed defence, while Moscatel vines and old raisin architecture connect the coast to the agricultural landscape behind it.
